The Vice President, Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Mrs Jean Chiazor-Anishere-SAN; the Principal Partner Akabogu and Associates, Barr Emeka Akabogu – PhD; the President, Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), Mrs Funke Agbor-SAN, amongst others are set to provide the much needed maritime career guidance for maritime students and aspiring young maritime professionals as Platform Communications, a leading media company in the Nigerian maritime sector debuts a bi-monthly Maritime Career Mentorship Programme known as M-CAMP.
In a press statement released over the weekend, the Chief Executive of Platforms Communications, Mr Sylvanus Obasi explained that the M-CAMP is an interactive mentorship platform and capacity building initiative designed to bring maritime students, aspiring and young maritime professionals face to face with industry experts for the purpose of mentorship, transfer of practical industry knowledge and provision of career guidance in a way that guarantees succession plan for the sustainable growth of the industry.
He outlined the objectives of the programme to include the following:
I. The aim and objective of M-CAMP is to mentor and groom up-coming maritime professionals.
II. Provide adequate career guidance for maritime students and up-coming maritime professionals.
III. Equip students and young maritime professionals with industry-based practical knowledge
IV. And position them for success as future leaders of the industry.
Speaking further, Obasi hinted that the bi-monthly mentorship program would hold in selected Fridays in the months of February, April, June, August, October and December respectively.

FEBRUARY – Shipping and Admiralty Law Students & young maritime law practitioners.
APRIL – Nautical Science and Marine Engineering Students, cadets and young seafarers.
JUNE – Shipping Management, Maritime Transportation and Business Management Students/young graduates
AUGUST – Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management students & practitioners.
SEPTEMBER – Maritime Intelligence & Security Management students and practitioners
DECEMBER – Female maritme students, Cadets, Seafarers and young female professionals.
