The Zone A Coordinator of the Nigeria Customs Service, ACG Modupe Aremu; Human Resources Manager of L.T.T Coastal and Marine Services Ltd, Mrs Thedora Nwaeze; current Vice President of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA Nigeria), amongst 3 others have bagged the 2021 Maritime Amazons (MA) Award.
The event took place at the 6th Grand Finale of Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) held recently in Lekki-Lagos with the theme, “Brain Meets Beauty”.
According to a press statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the organisers, Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) and signed by its Executive Director, Mr Sylvanus Obasi other awardees of the Maritime Amazons Award include: the Women Leader, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Mrs Funmi Hannah Fasan; Deputy Director, Public Relations of the Nigerian Shippers Council; Hajia Rakiya Dhikru-Yagboyaju and Public Relations Officer of WISTA Nigeria, Mrs Sarah Roberts.
Speaking about the Maritime Amazons Award, Mr Obasi hinted that the MA Award was designed to identify, celebrate and honour inspiring maritime women who have shattered the proverbial glass ceiling in their maritime careers or field of endeavours in order to use the success story of these uncommon women to encourage the younger generation of women in maritime career path.
The MA Award, a conception of Face Of Maritime International has recognised and honoured over 20 outstanding maritime women since 2019 that the Award was instituted.
Recall that Face Of Maritime International is a brand of Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign Initiative, a non-governmental, non-profit making organisation championing gender advocacy, women empowerment and career mentorship for up-coming women in the maritime profession.
