The 2019 Best Graduated Maritime Students Awardees (BEGMASA) who emerged and were honoured at the just concluded Annual Maritime Students and Youth Conference (AMSAY Conference) held in May 2021 recently paid a courtesy visit to the Registrar, Council For the Regulation of Freight Forwarding In Nigeria (CRFFN), Barr Samuel Nwokohu, as well as the Acting Secretary-General, Abuja Memorandum of Understanding on Ports State Control, Capt Sunday Umoren in their marina offices in Lagos.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, the Convener of the AMSAY Conference, Mr Sylvanus Obasi who led the awardees on the visits revealed that the two visits afforded the best maritime graduates the opportunity of an interactive mentoring session with the two renowned industry practitioners who shared the stories and experiences of their career journeys with them.
“The visit is to formally introduce these outstanding maritime students now graduates to these angencies for recognition and to familiarize them with the mandates and statutory functions of these angencies, while also giving them an opportunity of mentorship by these practitioners whom we believe have a lot to share from the wealth of their career experiences in the sector.
“So the ultimate goal is to motivate these young graduates not to despair despite the present challenges and to encourage them to always strive for excellence in all their future endeavours”, Obasi posited.
Recall that the visit is an offshoot of the Annual Maritime Students and Youth Conference (AMSAY Conference) organised yearly by Platforms Communications which aims to bridge the mentorship gap between maritime professionals and the students.
