GIRLS GO-TO-SEA CAMPAIGN INITIATIVE, a non-governmental, non-profit-making organisation that promotes gender advocacy, women empowerment, and gender balance in the maritime sector has commenced Registration for 2021 edition of the prestigious maritime industry pageantry, FACE OF MARITIME INTERNATIONAL (FOMI).
The Face of Maritime International (FOMI) is a maritime industry pageantry of international standards which uses role modeling to advocate greater participation of women in maritime careers.
In a press statement issued recently by the Executive Director of Face Of Maritime International (FOMI), Mr Sylvanus Obasi, he revealed that the 2021 edition of the yearly maritime industry pageantry, will improve on the gains and lessons of season 5 edition held last year.
Mr Obasi maintained that following successful incorporation of Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign Initiative as a non-governmental and non-profits-making organisation and the successful registration of Face of Maritime International as a trademark brand of the Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign Initiative, the stage is perfectly set to move the brand to the next level in its gender advocacy campaigns in the maritime sector and beyond.
Speaking further, the maritime journalist in his press release, stated as follows:
1.1 – All entrants or applicants must meet the following conditions to be qualified as FOMI contestants:
a. All contestants must only be single females, never been married, never given birth, and can come from any country of the world.
b. Must have O Level as minimum educational qualification; graduates and contestants from maritime schools or with maritime background is added advantage.
c. Posses minimum height of 5 feet 5 inches (165.10 cm)
d. Posses beauty of face and proportionate body structure;
e. Must be outgoing, friendly and in excellent physical condition.
f. Contestants must be between the ages of 18 and 28 years old before the contest.
g. Contestants who are current queens/winners of another pageants must present written consent of her brand owners/managers
Crowned Queen: a. Branded official car; b. #500,000 Cash Prize; c. Maritime Scholarship; d. Endorsement deals.
1ST RUNNER-UP: a. #300,000 Cash Prize; b. Maritime Scholarship; c. Endorsement deals.
2ND RUNNER-UP: a. #200,000: 00 Cash Prize; b. Maritime Scholarship; c. Endorsement deal.

b. To promote Cleaner Ocean & Marine Environment Campaign by sensitizing riverine communities on the dangers of marine litters or dumping of refuse in the seas, rivers and water bodies.
c. To lead a sensitization programme that will ensure greener ports and eco-friendly maritime work environment.
2. 1st Runner-Up:
a. To organise mentorship seminars/worshops for maritime students and young maritime professionals.
b. To facilitate the participation of maritime schools and students in the Annual Maritime Students And Youth Conference (AMSAY Conference).
3. 2nd Runner-Up:
a. To promote Nigeria’s maritime Tourism potential by organising maritime tourism programmes and excursions for students and interested groups.
b. Embark on any other project that will benefit maritime students, cadets, young maritime professionals and further advance the development of maritime Tourism in Nigeria.
ACTION CALL: Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign Initiative however calls on interested maritime companies, schools, associations, agencies or individuals to register candidates of their choice as contestants who will represent them and fly their organisation’s flags in the contest.
