The Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) has condemned in strongest terms the Tuesday night shooting of unarmed #EndSars protesters at Lekki Toll gate by alleged officers of the Nigerian Army.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday and jointly signed by FOMI Role model Ambassador, Hajia Lami Tumaka and the newly crowned FOMI 2020 Winner, Queen Blessing Eugene, FOMI stated as follows: “Since 11th October that FOMI Contestants arrived Lekki for their one week camping ahead of the Grand Finale, Lekki community and her residents have been our friendly hosts, supporting us in all our camping activities, excursion to the beach and our Grand Finale on Sunday, until we finished our show, checked out of hotel on Monday afternoon to our respective homes and destinations.
“Our heart is pained that the same Lekki toll gate we exited via Ikoyi Link bridge as our newly crowned queen waved to the peaceful protesters after our show on Monday has been turned to war front where men alleged to be officers of Nigerian Army gunned down several Nigerian youths.
“As beauty queens who promote role modeling, we condemn this act of inhumanity, brutality and reckless abuse of power by Nigerian soldiers. We call on Nigeria Leaders to be good role models to the youth by handling things with maturity, diplomacy and fatherly love.
“We send our heart-felt sympathies and condolences to the families of those killed or maimed in this #EndSars struggle. Let there be justice for the dead. Injury to one is injury to all”, FOMI stated, and ended with the hashtag #EndSarsNow.
