The Board of Trustees of Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) has nominated Hajia Lami Tumaka as FOMI 2020 Role Model Ambassador.
Tumaka, a PR expert and Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations is the immediate past Director, Special Duties and External Relations of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
She retired from the agency in December, 2019 having served meritoriously in various capacities mainly as Head of Public Relations and later as Director of Special Duties of the apex maritime regulatory agency.
The honour of FOMI Role Model Ambassador will be conferred on her at the occasion of FOMI 2020 Women Empowerment Night/Grand Finale scheduled to hold later this year in Lagos.
As FOMI Role Model Ambassador, her responsibilities within this one year that she would hold the honour include:
I. to play role model to FOMI queens and all aspiring young women interested in maritime careers.
II. to mentor up-coming female maritime professionals in the maritime career path.
III. to support in championing FOMI pet-project, called Girls-Go-To-Sea campaign (GGOTSEC)
Recall that Hadiza Bala Usman, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mrs Dabney Shall-Holma, Former Director, Commercial Shipping Services of the Nigerian Shippers Council, and Dr Mrs Fola Rogers, Executive Director, Human Resources and Admin of SIFAX Group were honored in this capacity in 2017, 2018, and 2019 respectively and Ms Hadiza Bala Usman would be glad to hand over this Baton of Honour to Tumaka this year.
