The Face Of Maritime International ( FOMI) 2020 Edition has fully commenced following a successful audition programs conducted for contestants across the country which ended on Monday in Lagos.
According to a Press statement issued on Tuesday by Platform Reporters, organisers of the Maritime Industry Beauty Pageant, a total of 21 Contestants passed the Audition and have been officially admitted into the Season 5 edition of the yearly Pageantry which kicked off on Tuesday with Voting campaign.
In his press statement, the Director of Face Of Maritime International, Mr Sylvanus Obasi revealed that out of a total of 95 candidates who registered for the pageant this year, only the 21 contestants who passed the Audition have been admitted officially into the contest
Speaking Further, the FOMI Director hinted that the voting campaign stage will last for 25 days, and that only those who meet the voting requirements would progress to the next stage of the contest by collecting their camp call up letter.
He added that various maritime organizations, agencies and companies interested in fielding candidates could now feel free to choose any of the Contestants they would like to sponsor to represent them in the contest as it has been the norm each year.
Speaking on what to expect from this year’s Contest, the FOMI Director and Publisher of Platform Reporters News said, “I expect a very keen Contest this year despite Covid-19 pandemic. This is because this year’s prize is worth 5 Million deals for the 3 Winners that would emerge as queens, and this is higher than last year’s whose worth was 3.5 Million Naira deals “.
“From the Contestants’ profile, majority of them are graduates who are either working, doing businesses or pursuing second degrees. The Contestants this year are more matured than that of last year’s set. So we expect a very keen contest from them all”, he said.
Mr Obasi also revealed that 11 contestants passed the Lagos audition whereas 10 others passed thee online audition conducted for contestants in Abuja, Port Harcourt and other geo-political zones of the country.
He listed the names of successful Contestants from all the auditions to include: 1. Agber Ruth 2. Okoro Lilian 3. Nwosu Chiamaka 4. Ikoghode Anne 5. Mary Ogbogo 6. Ogeleka Winnie7. Micheal Blessing 8. Dike Esther. 9. Onuorah Jessica and 10. Hannah Henry.
Others include: 11. Eze Amarachi 12. Christopher Timipere 13. Obadina Simisola 14. Morayo Kafilat 15. Arikawe Abigail 16. Abdulsalam Kehinde 17. Blessed Debbie. 18. Patrick Chizoba. 19. Agbejoye Joy. 20. Amuba Stella, and 21. Eugene Blessing.
Recall that Face of Maritime International is an industry pageant of international standards which advocates greater participation of women in maritime careers. FOMI was founded by Platforms Communication in July 2016.
The aims and objectives of FOMI are built on four pillars. Namely:

To mentor and empower young women in maritime careers path.
FOMI Contestants are young ladies who have indicated interest in maritime and are ready to undergo basic exposure into the world of maritime through participation in the industry pageant.
