The Face of Maritime International (FOMI) 2019 has come and gone, but the memories of the 3 months contest still resonates in the social media platforms as photos and videos of the event keep surfacing every now and then in the social media spaces.
“Today, Platform Reporters, organisers of the pageant celebrate these 8 unique and dogged fighters who made it all the way to the grand finale stage despite the odds.
“Recall that over 105 contestants registered in FOMI 2019 contest, out of that number only 35 passed the audition, whereas only 8 contestants entered the FOMI Faculty Camp and made it all the way to the grand finale held in Lagos on October 26th, 2019.
“Today being exactly two months after the contest, we looked back to the profiles of these 8 finalists, we found something unique about them, hence our resolve to share their profiles with you”, Mr Sylvanus Obasi, FOMI CEO stated.
The 8 unique finalists are:
1. IKERU HAPPINESS CHINEMEREM – MISS NIGERIAN RAILWAY CORPORATION (NRC)
State of origin: Imo state
Skin complexion: Light-medium
Likes: I like anything that involves creativity and beauty, i also like singing
Dislikes: I dislike things that aren’t just right.
Best colour: Champagne Gold, Teal and Peach
Favourite food: Coconut Rice and Fish sauce
Educational qualification: O’ Level degree holder
I am an assistant teacher in a primary school, I’m also a makeup artist and I’m learning
Core values: Commitment, consistency, creativity and service.
Philosophy: ”You must give everything to make your life as beautiful as the dreams
that dance in your imagination”.
Reason(s) for contesting in FOMI: My reason for contesting in FOMI is actually
because pageantry literally transforms who you are, the visions and everything, I’am
contesting to improve other key things in life from poise, grace, self-confidence,
reaching out and helping the community.
My Pet-project: If I win FOMI crown, my pet project will be community involvement;
to help spread awareness on gender equality, to support the girls-go-to-sea campaign,
which is the core objective, to give back, organize seminars on Female health and

Reason(s) for contesting on FOMI: Contesting for FOMI will give me a greater
opportunity to participate in the maritime careers.
Pet-project if I win: If I win FOMI crown: I will use the opportunity to create
awareness to every female youth, enlighten them more about this industry and also
teach them what I have learned and how it has been of help to me. I will also be able to
help when am called upon.

My reason for contesting in FOMI is to be a voice to the young women who had to
give up their dreams because the society made them believe they are too weak to
belong to the tribe of maritime.
If I win FOMI crown, my pet-project will be adopt the pet-project of FOMI as
stipulated by the FOMI founders.
Remarks: I’m strong, energetic and positive. I’m a goal getter, bold and
adventurous and I have learnt to be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation to
achieve the desired success and also to see things from the brighter side of life.

Maritime and also to build my confidence, for lessons to learn, for opportunities,
