The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has received the Maritime Youth Award from Platforms Communications for outstanding Human Capacity Development in the maritime sector.
Speaking while presenting the award to the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usaman at NPA Headquarters on Wednesday, the Chief Executive Officer of Platforms Communications, Mr Sylvanus Obasi said the Authority deserved the award for consistently supporting human capacity initiatives which benefit the youth and up-coming professionals in the maritime industry.
Mr Obasi further explained that the Maritime Youth Award aims to honour agencies of government, private companies and organisations with a tract record of youth empowerment and capacity development for the future leaders of the industry.
He added that the Hadiza Bala Usman-led management of NPA has shown enough commitment to building human capacity for the youth as well as in youth empowerment in the maritime sector.
Responding, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman who was represented by the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Engr Adams Jatto thanked the management of Platforms Communications for the honour.
She said the award would encourage NPA to do more in building human capacity and in supporting human capacity development initiatives in the sector since the youth are the future leaders of the industry.
Present at the award presentation were the representative of the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Engr Jatto Adams, the Asst. General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Mallam Ibrahim Nasiru and the Chief Executive Officer, Platforms Communications, Sylvanus Obasi.
Others included the Editor, Shores2shores.comm, the President, Marine Engineering Students Association, Samuel Bassey and the President, Student Union Government, (SUG ),Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Comrade Agboola Oluwasegun.
