Platforms Communications, a leading media firm in the Nigerian maritime industry has honoured the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Starzs Investment Company Ltd, SIFAX Group and 8 others with the Maritime Youth Award.
The Award was presented to the recipients at the just concluded 4th Annual Maritime Students and Youth Conference held recently in Lagos.
Other recipients of the Maritime Youth Award are the Nigerian Shippers Council, Skelas Group, Navante Oil and Gas Company Limited, Bomarah Investment Ltd, Ofianyi Chambers, Akabogu and Associates, Ocean Deep Services Ltd and Ocean Star Shipping Company Ltd.
Presenting the Award to the recipients at the occasion, the CEO of Platforms Communications, Mr Sylvanus Obasi stated that Maritime Youth Award is an industry award designed to recognise and honour deserving maritime companies, government agencies, professional bodies and organisations that have consistently supported Human Capacity development programmes meant to benefit the youth and up-coming professionals in the Nigerian maritime sector.
He revealed that the award is meant to be given once in 5 years to deserving awardees whose support for human capacity development programmes in the sector must be glaring and benefitial to the Nigerian maritime youth in general.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, the Executive Director, Finance and Admin of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh thanked the Management of Platforms Communications for the honour bestowed on them. He said the honour is a huge challenge for them to continue to do more for the youth who are the future leaders of the industry.
He maintained that NIMASA was ready to do anything that would give hope to Nigerian youth, reduce youth unemployment and better position them to maximize the huge opportunities in the maritime sector.
