Zakama Rachael, a 20 year old indigene of Adamawa state and graduate of International Relations from North America University, Benin Republic has won the Season 3 edition of Face Of Maritime International held last Friday in Lagos.
Rachael who represented Nigeria Customs Service in the FOMI beauty contest beat 11 other finalists to clinch the prestigious FOMI Crown.
While Racheal smiled home with the Star prize, comprising of official car, a plot of land in Lekki and Five Hundred Thousand Naira cash prize, Bassey Hossana, Miss Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) emerged the 1st Runner up known as FOMI Ambassador and won a cash prize of Three Hundred Thousand Naira. Whereas Adeniyi Omolara, Miss Nigerian Shippers Council emerged 2nd Runner up known as FOMI Queen Tourism and also won the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira as cash prize.
Other winners in the Special Award categories are:
Lawal Omolola (Miss SIFAX) who won FOMI Top Model Award 2018, Christabel Francis (Miss Shippers Association of Lagos – SAL) won FOMI Miss Influential, and Akparanta Rebecca (Miss National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders – NAGAFF) won FOMI Most Talented 2018.
Other Award winners include: Ikugbonmire Oluwaseyi (Miss Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology – FCFMT) won FOMI Miss Intellectual, whereas Iwunze Desire (Miss Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents – ANLCA) won FOMI Most Photogenic Award 2018.
Already, the newly crowned queen and her runners up have been receiving congratulatory messages from the general public, particularly the maritime industry as stakeholders, friends and supporters felicitate with the winners for emerging victorious in the FOMI contest.
Recall that Face Of Maritime International is an industry pageant of international standards which advocates greater participation of women in maritime professions. The FOMI queens champion Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign as pet-project during their one year reign.
