NPA Urges Warri Port Stakeholders To Use FBVs

The Executive Director, Marine and Operations of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Sokonte Davies was Chairman of occasion at the 3rd edition of the stakeholders Forum held recently in Warri Port, Delta state.

Speaking as Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Sokonte noted that the present Management had initiated the forum as a way of identifying the challenges of the industry and also to monitor the pace of progress in ports operations.

He pointed out that one of such challenges in Warri Ports was the issue of low draught of port channels. And encouraged stakeholders to embrace the use of Flat Bottom Vessels in Warri port which has been experimented in Calabar port.

Also speaking, the President of Warri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture {WACCIMA}, Mr. Simon Asite lauded the efforts of the current NPA Management towards moving the maritime sector forward in Delta region.

On his own, the Chairman of Ogbe-Ijaw Local Government Council, the host community, Hon. Friday Dengham assured NPA Management that his council would ensure adequate security so that the on-going projects in Delta ports would continue uninterrupted.
