Platforms Communications, a leading media firm in the Nigerian maritime sector has honoured 10 best Graduated Maritime Students in the 2016/2017 academic session. The event which marked the 3rd Annual Maritime Students Conference was held yesterday in Lagos with many maritime industry practitioner in attendance.
Speaking while presenting the award of Academic Excellence to the Best Graduated Maritime Students, the Convener of the Conference, Mr Sylvanus Obasi explained that Platforms Communications aims to stimulate Academy excellence amongst Nigerian maritime students through the awards.
He called on government agencies, Corporate Companies and good spirited individuals to key into the concept by offering automatic employment, cash donations or scholarship of further studies to the winners.
This year, a female Marine Engineering Student, Miss Nnamdi Nwanne from Yaba
Miss Nwanne who bagged three awards at the event also won the Best Graduated Marine Engineering Student and Best Graduated Female Maritime Student 2017 having scored higher than all other candidates in that categories.
Winners in other categories are Ilemobade Olateru-Olagbegi
Others include, Irene Onyekwere, Best Graduated Transport Management Technology Student 2017 from Federal University of Technology, Owerri.Abdullahi
Already, the best Graduated Marine Engineering and Nautical Science students have been offered automatic Sea time job by a maritime company, Starz Investment Company Ltd.
