Joyce Saviour, representing Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has emerged the Crowned Face Of Maritime International 2017 at the FOMI Grand Finale held last Saturday in Lagos.
Joyce Saviour, a graduate of Nautical Science from the Arab Academy for Science,Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt defeated 13 other Finalists to win the prestigious FOMI crown.

She is closely followed by Asiru-Balogun Kikelomo, Representing Women’s International Shipping And Trading Association (WISTA) who won FOMI Ambassador and emerged the first Runner up. While Eniola Sekoni, representing Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) won FOMI Intellectual and became the second Runner up.
Winners in other categories of awards were Okpala Chinonye – FOMI Miss Tourism, Chukwu Justina – FOMI Miss Influential, Best Marshall – FOMI Photogenic and Nwachukwu Precious – FOMI Most Talented.
Others included Agboola Joy – FOMI Best Catwalk & Poise, Francis Precious – FOMI Miss Hilarious and Arise Elizabeth – FOMI Best Dinner Gown 2017.

Speaking at the event, the Host, Mr Sylvanus Obasi revealed that the Pageant aims to change the wrong public perception that maritime is only for men. He disclosed that the FOMI winners would embark on a pet project called Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign aimed at sensitizing Nigerian girls about career opportunities in the maritime industry.
The 2017 Face Of Maritime International had a total of 24 registered contestants, of which 10 were eliminated during the contest, while 14 made it to the Grand Finale which was held in honour of Mrs Dabney Shall-Holma, Former Director, Commercial Shipping Services, Nigerian Shippers Council who was awarded FOMI Role Model Ambassador 2017.
Platform Communications, the organisers of the Pageant also used the occasion to induct nine new members into the prestigious Panel of Maritime Analysts.

The newly inducted PMA members were: Barr Temisan Omatseye, Former DG NIMASA, Engr Sambo Muazu, Area Manager, Lagos Area Office of NIWA, Mr Pius Ujubonu, a Licensed Customs Agents, Mrs Mary Madu Hamman, President of WISTA Nigeria and Mrs Hajia Lami Tumaka, Director, Special Duties and External Relations, NIMASA.
Others included: Barr Fred Akokhia, Legal Adviser to NAGAFF, Hajia Bola Muse, CEO Bomarah Group, Mrs Rollens Macfoy, CEO, Ocean Deep Services Ltd and Elder Asu Beks, Publisher of Shipping World Magazine.
The occasion was well attended by notable maritime dignitaries both within and outside Lagos, including friends and relations of the FOMI contestants.
