FOMI Queens with Alhaji Jubril
The Face Of Maritime International has received commendations and support from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), over its pet project, called Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign (GGOTSEC).
This commendation and support was expressed by the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside when the winners of Face Of Maritime International paid him a courtesy visit at the agency’s Headquarters recently in Lagos.
Speaking during the visit, the crowned Face Of Maritime International, Miss Greatest-Love Uwadiale told the agency that the Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign is a catch them young campaign program targeted at Nigerian girls with a view to sensitizing and encouraging Nigerian girls to pursue career opportunities in the maritime industry by choosing to study maritime related courses at the tertiary education level.

Earlier in his remarks, the Founder and Manager of Face Of Maritime International, Mr Sylvanus Obasi appreciated the Management of NIMASA for the support it gave to the peageant during its maiden contest in December last year. He explained that the purpose of the industry peageant is to attract and encourage more female participation in core maritime professions.
In his response, the Director General of NIMASA who was represented by the Director of Reforms Coordination and Strategies Management, Alhaji Ibrahim Jubril commended Face Of Maritime International for its laudable initiatives in the Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign.

He also assured that NIMASA would support the initiative since it is in line with the agency’s mandate as well as with the objectives of International Maritime Organisation (IMO) which advocates gender balance in building human capacity in the maritime industry.
