It’s all looking good and great as a new era of hope seems to have dawned for the Nigerian maritime students ahead of their 2017 Conference as one of the leading maritime law firms in Nigeria, Jean Chiazor & Associates, operators of Ofianyi Chambers have volunteered to offer automatic employment to whoever would emerge the Best Graduating Admiralty Law Student 2016 in the forth-coming coming Maritime Students Conference scheduled for May 26 this year.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday by Mr Sylvanus Obasi, the CEO of Platforms Communications, organisers of the Students Conference, he revealed that the Principal Partner of Jean Chiazor & Associates, Barr Mrs Jean Chiazor-Anishere, through an email sent to the company on Monday, communicated the willingness of her Chambers to employ whoever emerges as the Best Graduating Admiralty Law Student for the 2016 academic session as would be announced at the Conference.
According to the press statement, Mrs Chiazor in her email wrote, “As my humble contributions, please I’m willing to offer an employment to the best Admiralty Law Student, 2016 after his/her successful tenure at the Law School and the NYSC”.
Responding, Mr Obasi expressed his deepest appreciation to the management of Ofianyi Chambers for its kind gestures. He also called on other organisations, whether public or private, including professional bodies in the maritime sector to also key into the initiative by way of employment, financial support or scholarships to winners in other categories of the honour.
Recall that Platforms Communications had earlier announced its intention to honour 10 Best Graduating Maritime Students in different maritime and transport related studies during this year’s Nigerian Maritime Students Conference.
The categories of students to be honoured include:
1. Best Graduating Marine Engineering Student
2. Best Graduating Nautical Science Student
3. Best Graduating Naval Architecture Student
4. Best Graduating Admiralty Law Student
5. Best Graduating Female Maritime Student
6. Best Graduating Shipping Management Student
7. Overall Best Graduating Maritime Student
8. Best Graduating Transport Management Technology
9. Best Graduating Maritime Management Technology, and
10. Best Graduating Fishery Studies Student, all for 2015/2016 Academic Session.
A With Nigerian Maritime Students 2017 will now hold on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Ace-Olivia Hall, Lagos City Mall in Onikan Lagos, instead of the initial May 27 scheduled for it to hold this year.
With over 500 maritime students expected to attend the Conference, Dr Dakuku Peterside, the Director General of NIMASA would deliver the Lead Speech on the Central theme of the event, titled: “Solving The Challenges Of Nigerian Maritime Students: The NIMASA Game Plan”.
